About WAMHI

Women Are Medicine Health Initiative was founded in 2022 by Mumtahanah Williams-Ansari to promote the  physical, mental, emotional, creative, and spiritual wellbeing of women and girls while honoring their innate wisdom and strength, and nurturing the gifts that they bring to families and communities.

Inspired by the teachings and legacy of her son and student, Muriyd "Niish Akumahkwak" Williams (Two Clouds), an Afro-Indigenous land defender, educator, and advocate for absolute sovereignty, WAMHI embraces the belief that healing begins with balance, reciprocity, and community.

Through essays, interviews, Elder Wisdom, conversations, educational

resources, community projects, wellness initiatives, events, storytelling, and multimedia content, we seek to preserve knowledge, encourage reflection, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful opportunities for learning, healing, and service. Our goal is to cultivate a living community where individuals and families can find inspiration, practical resources, and support as they work toward greater wellbeing.

We believe women are medicine-not because women are perfect, but because women have always been essential to the health and wellbeing of the people.
